A dataminer has found files hinting that the Kar98k sniper rifle and SPAS-12 shotgun may be returning to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 soon. Although some Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 fans find the two weapons to be synonymous with the franchise, neither one has made an appearance in years.
Throughout its history of more than two decades, Call of Duty has featured a wide range of iconic weapons that are remembered for both bad reasons and good. The Kar98k, a WWII German bolt-action rifle, rose to popularity in Call of Duty 2 when the sniper was widely regarded as the best option in its class. Other codenamed weapons that the dataminer found include the «pcharlie9,» which is speculated to be the PC9 Carbine or P90, and the «kpappa50,» which is possibly the Keltec P50.
The two classic weapons would make for solid headliners in a future Modern Warfare 3 battle pass. Call of Duty's recent Season 3 update introduced the FJX Horus SMG and MORS sniper rifle, which can be unlocked by progressing through certain tiers in the new pass.
