Between Palworld, Helldivers 2, and now Manor Lords, it’s been a year of games coming out of left field and achieving runaway success.
Manor Lords, a medieval city building game that is equal parts Banished and Total War, is one of the most wishlisted game on Steam with an estimated three million wishlists, and launched into Early Access this week, tearing up the charts with a 170,000 concurrent user peak as of the writing of this article.
The game is an impressive feat by Slavic Magic developer Greg Styczen, a single indie dev from Poland, though he was able to outsource some work through his Patreon and money received as part of an Epic MegaGrant.
Manor Lords originally caught fire with its demo released back in 2022, driving over half a million new wishlists at the time and putting the title on many gamers’ radar.
The game features city-building mechanics with many of the typical trappings of the genre, but also allows players to fight for territory in huge battles reminiscent of what one would find in games in the Total War series.
Manor Lords is available now in Early Access on Steam, PC Game Pass, Epic Games, and GOG.
