A Diablo 4 seasonal character is required to progress the game's Season 1 battle pass, Blizzard has confirmed.
Like its predecessor, Diablo 4 will offer seasons, although there are some changes compared to Diablo 3. As confirmed by Blizzard last year, Diablo 4 will feature free seasons, as well as paid battle (season), passes as part of Diablo 4's live services. "which will feature seasons every three months that include major new seasonal features on a much grander scale than we've seen in things like Diablo 3, because again, all the people building the game are going to be working on seasons, working on expansions", Diablo 4 director Joe Shely said last year. "And yes, it will feature a season pass that will serve as a companion to each season and its seasonal features."
Shely also confirmed that the season pass will give access to additional cosmetics among other things. During the most recent Diablo 4 campfire stream, the development team also talked about Diablo 4's first season, some players still appear to be confused about how battle pass progress works with seasonal- and regulator characters. "I did not do previous-gen Diablo seasons so I don't really fully get it", Forbes writer Paul Tassi asked Diablo manager Rod Fergusson on Twitter yesterday. "If I don't want to level season-specific characters from scratch, can I still use my "permanent" ones to progress the battle pass?"
