Helltide farmers rejoice.
By Cameron Koch on
A new Diablo IV patch coming later today will make it so players have a chance of earning Unique items from Helltide chests.
The change was announced during the latest Diablo IV developer update livestream, where details about the game's first season and a new class for Diablo Immortal were also revealed. If you didn't know Unique items couldn't already drop from Helltide chests, you aren't alone. Diablo franchise manager Rod Fergusson also didn't know Unique couldn't drop from Helltide chests until now.

Now Playing: Diablo IV | Season of the Malignant | Announce Trailer
It's a nice change that should make Diablo IV's endgame a little smoother, making it easier to target-farm for specific items that players may be chasing in order to perfect their builds. Players have complained that some of the game's ultra-rare Uniques are so rare they might as well not even exist, so these changes will hopefully make them (ever so slightly) more common. Other changes coming in update will be revealed via patch notes later this afternoon.
Blizzard noted during the livestream that today's update won't as large as last week's update, which brought major changes to Diablo IV's endgame by increasing the amount of XP earned from Helltide chests and Nightmare dungeons. For more, check out our Season of the Malignant interview.
