New World’s latest update is set for release tomorrow, and will fix several issues that affect a number of Season 2 features. The patch will also improve performance, but with an important tradeoff the devs will want feedback on.
The update will fix a number of issues, many of which are errors that popped up during season 2. The Elite Sandwurm Trial has a bug where if you are killed during the encounter, you may not get any rewards. Given the difficult nature of the Trial, making sure everyone gets the appropriate rewards at the end is important. Fixes in the update will cover a wide range, with things likeincorrect Season Pass XP, boss spawns more limited than intended, incorrect tooltips, and several quest bugs.
A couple of improvements on the way are on top of fixes. Players have been asking about Outpost Rush improvements, and this patch will increase the number of personal score points you gain from contesting an outpost control point. Expect to see a 40% boost. More OPR improvements will be on the way. Also in PVP, the Brimstone Sands Arena is now active again as part of the two-week rotation and will be until August 15th.
The New World team has talked about performance improvements, future plans to support DirectX 12 and more. The main change in this patch affects startup time in exchange for smoother loading. it's likely to take a bit longer to boot up the game due to a change that will affect how the client loads shaders.
