DICE provides new details on the upcoming modes, rewards, and maps Battlefield 2042 players can expect to see within the current extended season, as well as teasing a March launch window for Season 7. It's been quite the turnaround for Battlefield 2042, which had a less than ideal launch back in 2021 as it was criticized heavily by fans over missing features, balancing problems, and many server and technical issues. However, after delaying post-launch content and the game's first season, DICE began to slowly turn things around over time.
Now currently in the middle of Season 6, Battlefield 2042 has seen a major turnaround in the previous couple of years thanks to continued support, numerous updates which not only shored up many of the issues players experienced towards the beginning, but also added in major features like a scoreboard, class restructuring and plenty more. In fact, Battlefield 2042 has experienced a surge in players over the past few months, thanks to free to play weekends, limited time events, and the inclusion of a smaller map called Redacted that harkens back to previous fan favorites like Metro. Alongside a rejuvenated community, DICE continues to announce plans for future content, including details on what players can expect over the next couple of months.
Taking to Twitter, the official Battlefield account posted a roadmap of upcoming content from now through March, revealing plans for new events, game modes, and rewards players can earn. With an extension to Battlefield 2042 Season 6, the end of January will bring a new update with improved map rotations and other quality of life improvements alongside a new Lunar New Year event with limited time cosmetic rewards.
