Baldur's Gate 3 lets you get close to a lot of characters, but frankly, there's not enough hugging to be had. C'mon, we're fighting for our lives to remove mind flayer parasites from our brains, I think we could do with a hug every now and then.
Thankfully, we now have a mod for that. Nexus user Cerberry has dropped a new mod, simply called Hugs. This lets you embrace a bunch of different characters throughout the game, including those who aren't companions. Now, you can live out your dream of being held by Dame Aylin, or giving Hope the hug she desperately deserves.
The mod works by adding hugging as an ability that your characters can use. It differentiates hugs by body type too, so it should work regardless of what kind of Tav you've made, and who you're eager to embrace.
The mod author warns that you might still see character models clip into one another, but to be honest, hugging and kissing has its own issues in vanilla Baldur's Gate 3. I'll forever be haunted by the image of pre-patch Halsin making out with the air instead of my tiefling Tav. And who could forget that time Astarion refused to kiss everyone?
This will only be available to PC players right now, but Larian has hinted that mods are coming to console at some point in the future, so that might not always be the case. At the very least, we have all of those new kisses that Larian added around Valentine's Day to tide us over until then. Although, at this point, we've probably seen all of them a few hundred times already.
Baldur's Gate 3 is getting official mod support in its next patch, so we'll have to wait and see if this rolls out on console at the same time. If so, get ready to spend a ridiculous amount of time changing up your game, whether that be through adding these hugging animations, getting a bunch of different races to choose from, or even the ability to play in first person. Hell, you can even make your party run around the city with guns, if you want. Because why not?
