Help Contribute to the Wowhead Database - Wowhead Client & Looter Highlight
Ever wondered how Wowhead can show data like NPC locations, items inside a container, or drop rates? All of that is thanks to the community using our Wowhead Client!
The War Within beta is in full swing, and Phase 4 of Season of Discovery is rapidly approaching, so we're looking for help building up our database! With WoW receiving more updates now than ever before, you can help the WoW community learn more about the game.
Wowhead Client / Wowhead Looter
The Wowhead Client works on all versions of the game, automatically detecting World of Warcraft installations and updating the associated Wowhead Looter addon. This addon collects anonymous data on interactions you have in Azeroth, from looting bosses to finding new NPCs, storing all of that information in your Addons folder.
When you stop playing, the Wowhead Client sends that data to our servers to be processed.
These stats come from helpful players like you, running the Wowhead Client!
Compiling data from many different players allows us to build additional information into our database, not just where you looted a particular item, but where everyone else found it as well, and what the drop rate might be. The more data we get, the more accurate these statistics will be, which can then be put to better use in sharing useful information through guides and news articles like this one.
