The Assassin's Creed series is essentially a single player live-service offering at this point, and with the introduction of a franchise hub in Assassin's Creed Infinity, those efforts at Ubisoft are only being furthered. You can still keep your DLC consumption to a traditional standard in the newly unveiled Assassin's Creed Shadows, though, as its PS Store listings reveal a season pass promising two expansions post-launch.
There aren't any details yet revealing the themes of the two DLC packs, but given the expansions featured in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, you can expect them to offer anywhere between six to 15 hours of new content, depending on how much of it you wish to complete. The season pass also unlocks a bonus quest at launch, where you'll «help a loyal dog avenge his late master».
The reason we say «at least» two expansions is because that was also the plan — at least publicly — for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Starting off with The Siege of Paris and Wrath of the Druids, the French publisher later expanded its DLC scope with Dawn of Ragnarok. While it eventually released standalone, the Basim-focused title Assassin's Creed Mirage was once even part of Valhalla.
There's also the question of how Assassin's Creed Infinity ties into all this. The new hub for the series is still shrouded in a lot of secrecy, so expect concrete details at Ubisoft Forward next month, but it's designed to be a place where you access lots of different Assassin's Creed games and stories. New content could be delivered through it and the Animus Store too.
You could get the season pass in the Gold Edition along with three days of early access (from 12th November 2024) for £94.99 / $109.99, or the Ultimate Edition, which bundles in extra item packs and skill points for £114.99 / $129.99. Physical options are also available:
