Successful manga series The Quintessential Quintuplets has spawned a couple of anime series and even a movie, so video game adaptations were never going to be too far behind. Mages made a couple of visual novels, The Quintessential Quintuplets: Memories of a Quintessential Summer and The Quintessential Quintuplets: Five Memories Spent with You, both of which launched a couple of years ago in Japan. But now they’re available worldwide on PS4, just in case you missed the memo.
Memories of a Quintessential Summer, a standalone story, sees private tutor and protagonist Futaro Uesugi invited to the eponymous quintuplet’s private island. But amid a dangerous sudden storm, a long weekend transforms into two weeks of survival. “Socialise with quintuplets via the story events and decisions to strengthen your friendship in this light-hearted romantic comedy,” the blurb reads.
Meanwhile, Five Memories Spent with You ups the ante: “In preparation for a long-distance relationship after graduation, Futaro wants to restate his feelings to the girl he confessed to,” the press release reads. “His goal is to kiss her during a graduation trip. What will become of their love?” Well, that’s up to you, as you’ll have full control over which quintuplet you choose to act inappropriately with.
Naturally, these games will prove an acquired taste, but fans of visual novels will surely appreciate seeing them localised and launched in the west. You can buy each of the titles individually, or as part of a double-pack if you prefer. Are you a fan of The Quintessential Quintuplets manga or its subsequent anime adaptation?
