Yorgos Lanthimos is one of the most prolific directors working in Hollywood, and he’s already got another movie reportedly lined up.
According to a recent report from The Film Stage, Lanthimos has set his next movie following the upcoming Bugonia, and it will be a film titled Fatale, an assassin thriller based on Jean-Patrick Manchette’s 1977 novel of the same name.
The novel follows the story of Aimee, a professional assassin who arrives in a port town and begins entrenching herself amongst the population.
“Whether you call her a cold-hearted grifter or the soul of modern capitalism, there’s no question that Aimée is a killer and a more than professional one,” reads an official synopsis of Manchette’s original novel. “Now she’s set her eyes on a backwater burg—where, while posing as an innocent (albeit drop-dead gorgeous) newcomer to town, she means to sniff out old grudges and engineer new opportunities, deftly playing different people and different interests against each other the better, as always, to make a killing. But then something snaps: the master manipulator falls prey to a pure and wayward passion.”
Currently, no other information about the movie is known, nor who will star in it. Lanthimos has been extremely busy over the past few years, though, directing two movies — 2023’s Poor Things and 2024’s Kinds of Kindness — over the past two years.
Up next for Lanthimos is 2025’s Bugonia, an English-language remake of the 2003 South Korean film Save the Green Planet! by Jang Joon-hwan. That film will star his longtime collaborator Emma Stone, as well as Jesse Plemons and Alicia Silverstone.
