Focus Entertainment has revealed that Warhammer 40000: Space Marine 2 will have co-op gameplay in a new trailer at this year’s Summer Games Fest.
Focus Entertainment shared this description alongside this trailer:
“As showcased in the Co-op Campaign Reveal Trailer, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 features a gripping narrative that follows fan-favorite Captain Titus—powerfully portrayed by actor Clive Standen. After you get reinstituted as a Space Marine, embody the superhuman skill and brutality of the greatest of the Emperor’s warriors.
Unleash deadly abilities and an arsenal of devastating weaponry to obliterate the relentless Tyranid hordes. Thanks to the 3-player co-op mode, play the full campaign with friends or AI, and take on battles over and over, ever renewing the galactic warfare experience.”
The trailer itself doesn’t reveal too much about this co-op mode. It looks like the player will always see themselves playing Captain Titus, and they will see everyone else in co-op as nondescript characters.
It’s certainly a little disappointing if this were the case, as this could have been an opportunity for Saber Interactive to add more personality to the other Space Marines, but maybe we just haven’t seen everything that Warhammer 40000: Space Marine 2 will offer.
What we can talk about is that the game takes on an over the shoulder view during co-op mode. That would certainly simplify things, not only when it comes to PvE combat, but in terms of keeping tabs on other players as you take down the hordes of aliens together.
