Sony's upcoming Venom 3 is bringing on an Emmy-nominated cinematographer whose credits include Game of Thrones and The Crown. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fabian Wagner will be the cinematographer for the third entry in the Spider-Man series starring Tom Hardy.
Filming on Venom 3 is set to begin in the UK in July. Wagner was an additional cinematographer on Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage, so he has a history with the series.
You might not know Wagner by name, but you may be familiar with productions he has worked on. Fabian was the cinematographer for Justice League, and he earned an Emmy nomination for his work on the Battle of the Bastards episode of Game of Thrones. Fabian also worked on The Crown and Sherlock, as well as the Game of Thrones spin-off, House of the Dragon.
The first two Venom movies did not get great reviews from critics but did big business at the box office, together grossing more than $1.3 billion globally.
Venom 3 is directed by Kelly Marcel, who wrote the first two Venom films. Like those movies, Venom 3 is a co-production between Sony and Marvel. Plot details for Venom 3 are unknown, but we know Hardy is returning to play Eddie Brock/Venom, with a cast that also includes Juno Temple (Ted Lasso) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness).
2018's Venom earned $856 million worldwide. A sequel followed in 2021 during the pandemic, Venom: Let there Be Carnage, and it earned more than $500 million globally.
