Last month at the big PlayStation Showcase, we got a first tantalizing look at Capcom’s anticipated action-RPG Dragon’s Dogma 2, but fans’ appetites definitely weren’t fully whet by the 80-or-so seconds of footage we got. Thankfully, today at the big Capcom Showcase we get a few more snippets of footage, and some fresh details from Dragon’s Dogma mastermind Hideaki Itsuno. Even more new info would be nice, but fans will take what they can get.
As we’ve already heard, Dragon’s Dogma 2 will feature the return of the Pawn system, in which you team up with AI-controlled partners. This time around, Itsuno promises the AI will be more intelligent, even being able to guide towards secrets. Your party can consist of a main pawn, which you’ll be able to fully customize, as well as two support pawns.
Moving onto the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2, it will be around four times the size as what you explored in the original game. Capcom is promising a more open-ended, systemic experience, with players being able to choose how to tackle challenges Dark Souls or Zelda BotW/TotK-style. It all sounds rather promising, and in keeping with what players liked about the original Dragon’s Dogma. You can check out the new presentation for yourself, below.
Itsuno also provided some more info about two of the main characters seen in the new trailer, including Ulrika “a bow-wielder with a deep connection to the Arisen,” and Nadinia “a high priestess of the Beastren, who appear in the series for the first time.”
Looks like Capcom’s streak of excellent sequels isn’t going to be broken with this one. Haven’t been keeping up with Dragon’s Dogma 2? Here’s a quick official description.
