MTG Arena To Stop Selling Lord of The Rings: Tales Of Middle-earth Packs In 2025
Magic: The Gathering's long-awaited Lord of the Rings crossover is finally here, as Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth packs are set to go on sale in Magic: The Gathering Arena today, with the tabletop release coming a few days later on June 23. However, it seems like these packs aren't going to stay around forever, as an update from Wizards of the Coast has revealed that the Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth packs can only be bought for two years.
In a blog post on the official Magic: The Gathering website, Wizards of the Coast has explained that due to the "special nature" of the crossover, packs will only be available until some point in 2025, upon which the option to purchase them will be removed from the game entirely. Wizards doesn't give an exact date for when the packs will no longer be purchasable, but does explain that you'll still be able to obtain cards from the set by crafting them using wildcards.

"Due to the special nature of this Universes Beyond set, packs will only be available for purchase in the store through 2025," reads the blog. "Fear not! If you want to add cards to your collection after this date, you will still be able to craft them using wildcards."
While two years is a pretty long time, a time limit obviously makes collecting the set a lot trickier than it normally would be. It's an unprecedented move for Wizards of the Coast to make, and something that may be out of the company's control, but at least the cards themselves will remain in the game for the forseeable future.
