Tower of Fantasy will merge some servers next week, with today’s maintenance preparing for the server merges and various events and the arrival of Icarus tomorrow.
The first batch of server merges will happen next week, on April 17th. With today's maintenance patch, server transfers have been disabled in preparation for the merges. These merges will happen in batches, so the team will announce more of those batches later.
When Tower of Fantasy merges servers, there are several considerations in place that will determine which servers will be affected. Those in the same district and that use the same or similar update times and level caps will be able to be up for merging. They’ve announced merges for five regions, and those servers will see downtime when the first round is ready. Unaffected servers will stay up as usual.
The number of servers merging does vary by region, with six in North America and Asia-Pacific,seven in Europe, 10 in South America, and nine in Southeast Asia. It makes sense to disable transfers now, especially since transfers require action, until this round of merges goes through.
There’s also a FAQ on what it means for players to have their server merged with another, and this includes character naming, crew names, and things like how ranking data will work. If you have to change your character name, you will get a free rename.
Today’s maintenance, in addition to disabling server transfers, also fixed some bugs, and added the data for three events that will begin tomorrow.
