Bungie has several changes coming to Destiny 2 in Season of the Deep when it launches on May 23rd. That includes tuning for multiple Exotics and turning under-utilized items into potential game changers (emphasis on “potential”). Exotic armor changes are up first, and to perhaps the surprise of no one, Starfire Protocol is getting nerfed.
However, many probably didn’t expect how severe that nerf would be. Instead of 20 percent energy gained per damage instance, it’s 2.5 percent. You also get 20 percent grenade energy from kills with Empowered weapon damage. While it’s not completely dead in the water, you’re not throwing Fusion Grenades every two seconds once the new season hits.
It’s not all bad news. Dawn Chorus will provide more damage to Daybreak’s projectiles, and Chromatic Fire’s explosions are gaining increased radius and damage. Furthermore, explosions now cause status effects depending on the equipped subclass, so you can use Wishender and weaken enemies with precision kills. It’s a spin-off of Le Monarque with more single-target damage.
Check out all the Exotic armor changes in Season of the Deep below. Exotic weapon changes are still to be revealed, so stay tuned.
