NetherRealm Studios today teased the impending announcement of Mortal Kombat 12.
Prepare yourself for a new generation of Fatalities, Brutalities, and more. We know Mortal Kombat 12 is real and is supposed to launch this year thanks to Warner Bros. Now, it’s just a matter of when developer NetherRealm Studios decides to unveil the first details.
Today, the official Mortal Kombat Twitter channel posted a teaser dubbed, ‘It’s almost time.” In it we can see a watch counting to 12 before jumping straight to one. This likely indicates that Mortal Kombat 12 will serve as a sort of pseudo-reboot.

Mortal Kombat 12 is expected to pick up after the events of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath where Fire God Liu Kang reset the timeline. This likely means that Mortal Kombat 12 will be playing with a blank canvas that’s free from the stories told in the previous eleven titles. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t see popular characters like Raiden, Sub-Zero, Kung Lao, and Scorpion again. It’s likely that NetherRealm will cherry pick select fighters to return, and we hope that those fighters include some of the neglected 3D era characters like Kenshi, Havik, Onaga, and Hotaru.
Be sure to stay tuned for any news regarding Mortal Kombat 12.
