It was only just over a month ago when we received The Mageseeker, one of Riot Forge’s recent attempts to expand their world and massive character roster into other games, with the assistance of different indie developers. But now we also have the release of another such game, Convergence: A League of Legends Story, which sees the genre switch to 2D action-platforming this time around, thanks to the help of developers Double Stallion Games. Though as long as these games offer up a good dose of variety and excel in providing satisfying gameplay, which the launch trailer below seems to promise in this case, we doubt anyone is going to complain much about two LoL games being released within earshot of each other.
Set in the world of Zaun, the game sees you playing as Ekko, one of LoL’s Champions and a young inventor with a device the allows them to manipulate time. Unfortunately, as numerous works of fiction involving time travel have shown us, such devices can lead to one easily breaking time, which leads to some rather nasty consequences. That said, as seen below, Ekko’s device also grants them with a nice variety of time-based abilities that they can use for combat or manoeuvring around, such as rewinding the action, creating clones, or unleashing devastating attacks. And considering the numerous enemies Ekko will face off against includes other LoL Champions such as Camille, Warwick, and Jinx, they’ll need all of those skills. Converegnce: A League of Legends Story is available now for all major platforms, and should hopefully be one for both fans and newcomers alike to check out.
