Street Fighter 6 is another big hit from Capcom, continuing the publisher's streak of great games released over the past few years. Critics have already named SF6 as one of the strongest releases of 2023, and now it's time for players to enjoy the game. So far, many are doing so, as evidenced by the impressive player numbers on PC.
Shortly after Street Fighter 6 launched on Steam, the game unsurprisingly attracted significantly more players than any other game in the series, including Street Fighter 5. At the time of writing, SF6 peaked at 66,305 concurrent players on the platform — and that was just within the first hours after the game's release. It is possible than even more players will join the ranks of street fighters over the weekend, further pushing the game's current record.

With such impressive numbers, Street Fighter 6 is leaving far behind other notable examples of the fighting genre from the past few years, like Mortal Kombat 11 (which peaked at 35,147 players) and Tekken 7 (which peaked at 18,966 players). Of course, it's important to note that both of these titles were released some time ago. It will be interesting to see the upcoming competition between Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 1, and Tekken 8, as both of these games are expected to launch before the end of this year.
However, it appears that Street Fighter 6 won't surpass the simultaneous player count achieved by MultiVersus last year, which exceeded 150,000 players.
