Though speedrunning is not unique to community, this is the first time a Speedrun Mode will be available as part of the base game. This timer even pauses during cutscenes, a feature accepted in ’s speedrun community.
Players who have pre-ordered the base game will not receive an early unlock of the game’s Speedrun Mode and must unlock it by beating the game on Normal difficulty. Players who have purchased the Digital Deluxe or Firefly Edition of the game will have access right away. Digital Deluxe Edition is available for $79.99, giving players the Speedrun Mode from the start, alongside more modes and cosmetic features. For players who only want the new modes from the beginning, this is a $10 price increase from the base game. Firefly Edition will retail for $99.99 and offers more perks than the Digital Deluxe Edition, though both come with an early unlock of Speedrun Mode.

Speedrunning a stealth-based game like can be pretty challenging, especially for new players. It is recommended that players should get a feel for the new controls and new features before attempting a full-blown Speedrun of the game. On the first playthrough of , many new players will not realize that running is almost always an option. Many areas simply have an exit point that needs to be reached before proceeding.
