Shadows of the Damned was released way back in 2011 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as a collaboration between two of the most iconic Japanese video game makers: Shinji Mikami (of Resident Evil fame) and Goichi Suda, otherwise known as Suda51. Although the hyper-violent, third-person corridor shooter/action-adventure romp didn't make waves with its sales, critics were pretty positive. And now, after 13 long years, Grasshopper and Suda are bringingShadows of the Damned back with theHella Remastered edition, launching sometime this year.
During PAX East 2024, Game Rant sat down and chatted with Goichi Suda about Shadows of the Damned, what the characters mean to him, and his thoughts on a potential sequel.

Considering that Shadows of the Damned did not sell as well as other high-profile Suda51 games, it was surprising to see a remaster come out of the blue. In a much different time and with more people playing video games than ever, we asked Suda51 if the new remaster for Shadows of the Damned manages to sell enough copies, is there a chance for your studio to start development on another game in the series?
We also asked him if he would like to see more character development of the main cast, like Garcia and Fleming.
Suda51 stated that if Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered does sell well enough, then "putting out a sequel is definitely something we would like to consider. So, make sure you buy as many copies as you can find in the stores."
Suda continues by saying, «Even if we don't end up putting out a straight-up sequel or continuation or whatever, I do have a soft spot in my heart for the characters in the game, specifically Garcia Hotspur and Fleming.
