A Red Dead Redemption 2 player online has discovered an interesting glitch that appears to turn shadows into cookie cutters. While Red Dead Redemption 2 has no shortage of visual bugs like this, few are as interesting as this one.
It's almost impossible for Rockstar to patch out all the bugs in a game of Red Dead Redemption 2's immense scale. Over the years, the community has found some hilarious issues with the game, and now that just about all the game-breaking issues have been patched out, it's definitely easier to see the funny side of these kinds of issues. Just recently, one Red Dead Redemption 2 bug allowed a burnt corpse to become a crime witness, which was an extremely strange sight, but still provided a layer of laughs.
Redditor Zenonet_ shared the bug with the game's community online, showcasing Arthur Morgan on horseback. His shadow is cast down onto the floor, but it only shows the outline, giving the illusion of a cookie cutter shape being projected onto the environment. One player even gave the strange event a name, describing it as a «total eclipse of the horse.» Over the years, there have been plenty of visual bugs found in Red Dead Redemption 2, but this appears to be a first.
Unfortunately, Zenonet_ has been unable to diagnose what is causing the cookie cutter shadows glitch in their Red Dead Redemption 2. After experiencing several other visual bugs in the game, they decided to update their graphics drivers. It was only then that the strange outlined shadows began to appear. It doesn't seem as though the player has any Red Dead Redemption 2 mods installed either, ruling out this as a possible cause. Hopefully, the player will be able to discover what is causing the issue. While it's interesting to see once or twice, it would certainly be immersion-breaking if it occurred over a full playthrough of Red Dead Redemption 2.
