The first free content update for Sonic Frontiers, the latest entry in the series released last year on PC and consoles, will be released on all formats later this week, SEGA confirmed today.
In a new email that is now being sent to players, the Japanese publisher confirmed that the Sights, Sounds and Speed update will be made available on March 23rd on all formats. No additional detail was provided, but the update, as its name suggests, will likely bring the Photo, Jukebox, and new Challenges modes, outlined in the content roadmap shared back in November.
The Sonic Frontiers Sights, Sound And Speed update will only be the first content drop for the game this year. A second update, which will go live on a yet-to-be-confirmed date, will celebrate Sonic's birthday and bring an Open Zone challenge mode as well as a new Koco type. The third and final update for 2023 will introduce new playable characters and a new story.
Despite not being perfect, Sonic Frontiers is a solid open-world platform game and one of the best 3D entries in the series ever, as I highlighted in my review. With a few tweaks, this type of experience could bring the franchise to the heights it has failed to reach since the first three entries in the series.
Sonic Frontiers is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch worldwide.
