A new Elden Ring update adds ray tracing capabilities, along with some balance changes and bug fixes, to the game. Elden Ring has been a massive success for developer FromSoftware, as it has sold over 20 million copies in its first year.
Since its release in February 2022, the development team has released many updates for Elden Ring that add new features, fix bugs, and implement balance changes. Several Elden Ring weapons have been nerfed and buffed in this period, with the same being true for many of its bosses. Now, Bandai Namco Entertainment has detailed the contents of patch 1.09 of the game, confirming that a new feature is coming to Elden Ring.
Elden Ring Player’s Surprise Attack Ends in Disaster
As revealed by the patch notes, update 1.09 for Elden Ring is now available on all platforms, adding ray tracing capabilities to the PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X versions. Ray tracing has been touted as a major differentiating factor of current-gen consoles and PC hardware, but it can be extremely demanding on the system. So, the patch notes state that the frame rate and resolution may be impacted while playing with ray tracing.
The next section deals with changes coming to PvP in Elden Ring, with some elements being nerfed in order to improve the overall balance of this mode. While the effectiveness of many attacks has decreased with this update, players should note that these changes are exclusive to PvP, and do not otherwise impact Elden Ring’s gameplay.
This update makes other general changes, such as an adding an invincibility window when players respawn in the colosseum, and decreasing the hitbox size when attacking with specific types of weapons. It also makes adjustments to the various Ashes of War available in Elden
