Developer FromSoftware released the Colosseum update for Elden Ring in December 2022, allowing fans to participate in PvP battles in a dedicated arena. Gamers could take part in solo or team-based fights, with an option to allow use of spirit ashes as well. This PvP feature is separate from the invasion mechanic, which requires the invader to use a certain item to initiate. It looks like invading in Elden Ring can be extremely lucrative, as one fan received a massive number of runes for killing their opponent.

The player speculates that the host was carrying 94 million runes, which were transferred to them as a reward for a successful invasion. However, fans in the comments section state that the number of runes players earn while invading in Elden Ring are unrelated to how many the host was carrying, and a few users offer a reasonable explanation of what may have happened in this case.
