A contestant on the hit Netflix dating show Love is Blind proved his nerdy video game bona fides by suggesting to his future fiancee that they name their children after Elden Ring bosses. Elden Ring was written in part by acclaimed fantasy author and Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin. Martin came up with a lot of Elden Ring’s backstory and even came up with many of the ironic yet frustratingly similar character names players encounter in the game.
Love is Blind is a reality dating show wherein contestants get to know their prospective mates without ever seeing them until they’ve decided that they want to marry. Love is Blind jumps over the dating phase and straight to engagement, then a honeymoon, and then the wedding, where the couple must ultimately decide if they want to stay together. The recently released fourth season saw criminal defense attorney Zack Goytowski and event planner Irina Solomonova whisked away to Mexico where, over a romantic beach-side dinner, the topic of baby names came up. Things took a quick turn into the weird world of Elden Ring character names.
Elden Ring Fans Name Their Least Favorite Bosses in the Game
In a startling break from conventional child names, Zack bravely suggested a couple of boy names taken directly from Elden Ring. The first was Godfrey, whom Elden Ring players better know as Godfrey the First Elden Lord. He’s one part of the boss fight gauntlet players must run through at Elden Ring’s climax. Considering that Godfrey has a spectral lion clinging to his back, it’s easy to see why one might take some baby-naming inspiration from the battle-ax-wielding villain.
