The actress behind Resident Evil 4 Remake's Ada Wong actress, Lily Gao, has deactivated replies on her Instagram posts that mention the role after receiving thousands of hateful comments from toxic gamers about her performance.

Resident Evil 4's remake has largely been hailed as a worthy recreation of the original and one of the best games of 2023, but that doesn't mean that it's without fault. One of the main criticisms levied against it is Lily Gao's performance as Ada Wong, with some saying that she sounds bored as the character and saying that it doesn't live up to how she was portrayed in Resident Evil 2's remake.

While it is fair to critique a performance, what isn't fair is harassing somebody for their work, no matter how you feel about it. Sadly, that is exactly what has been happening to Gao in the week since Resident Evil 4 remake's launch. As pointed out by the aptly-named ResetEra user AdaWong, Gao's Instagram posts had thousands of hateful comments posted underneath them, which has caused Gao to quietly deactivate replies on posts to do with the remake.

We can no longer see the comments now that Gao has deactivated them, but Twitter user alicunts shared a few screenshots of what was being posted and they're predictably toxic. One claims that Ada's voice is the "worst voice acting they've heard in years", while another says that there's "nothing seductive" about Gao's performance. What a normal thing to get annoyed about.

Thankfully, some Resident Evil fans have been sharing their support of Gao's take on Ada, taking to Twitter to call out those harassing her and share positive feedback on her role in the game. One
