There's no doubt that FromSoftware creates some of the best characters in the video game industry. While players are expected to connect a lot of the dots themselves, Hidetaka Miyazaki – and in this case, George R.R. Martin too – are known to craft deep lore, which sometimes bleeds into physical gameplay as well.
Since the launch of Elden Ring, many of its characters, major and minor, have become recognisable faces even to those who haven't played the game at all. It's perhaps this that stirred one fan of the game into creating Magic: The Gathering cards featuring characters from last year's GOTY. kerosene88 has shared six custom Elden Ring MTG cards to the game's Subreddit, and more may soon follow.

As of now, the cards feature Gideon Ofnir, the All Knowing, Rennala of the Full Moon, Rennala, Caria's Last Queen, Starscourge Radahn, Tree Sentinel, and Tibia Mariner. Each card also has abilities that correspond to the character's in-game abilities. On a personal note, I like the way Rennala's use of the Juvenile Scholars in the game to give her a shield is translated into an MTG mechanic.
"I see SO MANY of the "created MTG cards based on X" posts and they usually suck," said one of the many comments praising these MTG cards. "This cards show a VERY good knowledge of both Elden Ring Lore and mechanics, as well as MTG mechanics. Wonderful job."
