Ukrainian developer Frogwares has had to delay its planned release of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened on PS5, PS4, and other platforms. Initially targeting a launch in late February/early March, the studio is now aiming to get the game out by April.
As outlined in the above video message, the ongoing conflict in the team's home country has severely impacted production. Regularly scheduled blackouts, not to mention missile strikes, have forced the developer to work around these issues, and it's of course slowed everything down.
The game itself is content complete and Frogwares is now in the final stages, but it's pushed back the release window to give itself more time to squash bugs and prepare for release on multiple systems.
Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is a remake of the studio's 2006 title of the same name, rebuilt entirely in Unreal Engine 4. It was partially crowdfunded on Kickstarter, where it exceeded its fundraising goal in just six hours.
Having grown up alongside PlayStation, Stephen has developed an eclectic taste in video games and a wide knowledge of the medium, from small indie gems to the biggest AAA blockbusters. Ever hopeful that the Burnout series makes a miraculous return.
