Sega's New Crazy Taxi Is Reportedly Live Service, Inspired By Fortnite

Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and a lot more classic Sega titles are coming back as part of its master plan to create a "super game" that will incorporate various IP from across its history. Crazy Taxi is also on this long list of titles, arguably one of the more highly-anticipated games included in the big trailer reel Sega released at The GameAwards last year.

We've heard very little about the project since then, but it's now been claimed that this new Crazy Taxi game will be "live service" and modeled after massively popular titles like Fortnite and GTA Online. This news comes from reliable Sega/Atlus insider Midori, who claimed in a recent tweet that Sega is using both Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio as a launch pad into the live service genre.

According to Midori, Sega's current plans regarding Crazy Taxi is to release a remake of the original game before going all in on the reboot. It will also apparently include a 100-player survival mode that will pit racers against each other, which sounds a lot like some kind of battle royale mode with a Crazy Taxi-inspired twist.

We don't quite know what the extent of Sega's ambitions are, but we know for a fact that Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, and Streets of Rage games are in development, as well as many more.

Midori goes on to explain that Jet Set Radio will also get a full-blown remake, and that it will be released before a Fortnite-inspired reboot. They also claim the reboot will include "graffiti and shooting gameplay" with a strong focus on "exploration", with new characters and story elements included as well. That's all the info that Midori has shared so far, and given their past record regarding the recently released Persona 3 Reload, we can safely assume that most of it is accurate.
