will come with Xbox-exclusive microtransactions when it launches later this week. The FFXIV Coins can be purchased from the Microsoft Store and will be used for service fees and optional item purchases. Other platforms will still be able to use additional payment methods.
FFXIV coins will be needed for players who want to use the Mog Station or Final Fantasy XIV Online Store. Once they’ve been purchased from the Microsoft Store, they’ll be added to a player’s account once they have logged back into the game. Unlike PS5, PS4, or PC, Xbox players can’t use any other additional methods of payment.
When the game launches, there will be several different versions available. The most basic of these will be the Online Starter Edition, which includes the base game and the Heavensward and Stormblood expansions. This version will be an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate perk for free until April 19, 2024. An Xbox Game Pass membership will be required to play the game as well.
Those who grab the Starter Edition can then choose to add the Endwalker option that will add access to the Shadowbringers and Endwalker expansions. The Endwalker Collector’s Edition also includes several in-game bonus items.
The Complete Edition includes the base game and the Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and Endwalker expansions right from the start. The Complete Collector’s Edition then adds the in-game bonus items from A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and Endwalker Collector’s Editions.
Anybody who purchases any of the game’s editions before April 19 will get the Wind-up Palom Minion and Menphina earring in-game items. These will be accessible through the Moogle Delivery Service. The game will launch on March 21, although the free trial will continue to be available after this date for those who want to try before they buy.
