A talented woodcarver has created a custom case for Sonic Adventure 2: Battle out of wood. The awesome fan art replicates the details of Sonic Adventure 2: Battle's cover, including its many iconic characters. After finishing the impressive project, they shared their work on social media for other fans to see.
While Sonic Adventure 2 was released in June 2001 for the Sega Dreamcast, an enhanced GameCube version came out a few months later. Utilizing the hardware of the Nintendo system, this version of the game included enhanced visuals and overhauled multiplayer, hence the new title. In addition, the Chao system received changes over the Dreamcast version. These alterations made Sonic Adventure 2: Battle the preferred way to play the game for some Sonic fans. Recently, one gamer paid tribute to the classic game in a piece of custom artwork.
In a post on Twitter, a user known as Pigminted shared a short video of their recent Sonic Adventure 2: Battle wood carving. Impressively, the creator captured the box art in incredible detail, including the many characters in the game. A layered look was used for the wood carving, helping Sonic and Shadow pop from the cover art. In addition, popular characters like Tails, Knuckles, and Dr. Eggman were recreated on the cover, along with the game logo. Adding to the effect, Pigminted appeared to use wood stain to make the artwork feel more authentic.
Beyond the front of the cover, the artist included a detailed carving on the back. This artwork featured Sonic and Shadow, along with a couple of Chaos. The side of the box also had several small details, including the game’s name and the Nintendo GameCube console logo. Since sharing the brief video of the artwork, numerous fans have applauded Pigminted’s efforts, with the post gaining hundreds of likes.
