Fortnite's «Dead Game» skin has been replaced with a «Good Game» skin when used in LEGO Fortnite. Although Epic Games did not specify a reason for the change, it is likely due to efforts that aim to protect LEGO Fortnite's younger players.
LEGO Fortnite skins have been tweaked in the past by having items like guns or bullets removed from their non-Battle Royale versions. The most apparent reason for this strategy is to shield LEGO Fortnite's player base, which presumably skews much younger thanFortnite's Battle Royale fan base; the spin-off game features a LEGO-inspired art style and much less emphasis on PvP combat. Although LEGO Fortnite has struggled to maintain the huge player numbers it saw at launch, it has recently rebounded thanks to a new update.
FollowingFortnite's Star Wars update, Twitter user and Fortnite leaker Hypex pointed out that the Dead Game skin's LEGO version had been modified to replace the word «dead» on the skin's shirt. Other than that change, the LEGO skin is mostly the same and tries to recreate its Battle Royale appearance like other Fortnite skins. LEGO Fortnite currently sports over 128,000 concurrent users thanks to the new update, but last month in April, the game averaged about 55,000 users, a pretty low number for Fortnite's massive overall player base.
Fortnite's Dead Game skin, which is called Veronika in-game, was first introduced in 2022 as part of the Checkered Past Pack. The skin poked fun at the «dead game» meme that had become popular in the years leading up to 2022 when some frustrated Fortnite fans described the game as such. Of course, Fortnite has featured a gigantic player base for much of its lifespan, so its developers weren't afraid to take lighthearted jabs at the meme.
