An artistically talented Pokemon fan is showing their love for Mythical Pokemon newcomer Pecharunt by giving it an impressive alternate form. The vastly different form, which takes inspiration from an unexpected Pokemon from a prior generation, is catching the eye of more than a few Pokemon fans online.
Part of Pokemon's ninth — and latest — generation, Pecharunt is a dual-type Poison/Ghost Mythical Pokemon introduced at the tail-end of DLC for Pokemon Scarlet andViolet. Pecharunt is only accessible after getting to Mochi Mayhem, the epilogue to the titles' The Indigo Disk DLC. Trainers looking to get a Pecharunt in Pokemon Scarlet andViolet must follow a lengthy series of steps in order to do so, and won't have any luck trying to catch a Shiny version.
The impressive alternate form of Pecharunt in question comes from a Reddit user named EliteRobo04, who posted their design to one of the site's primary Pokemon pages. This version of the Pokemon looks significantly more intimidating than its standard counterpart, having fused with its shell and granting onto itself the Toxic Chain ability otherwise exclusive to The Loyal Three. The design's notes indicate this is because it is in Despair Form, playing into a theoretical progression of Pecharunt's tragic backstory and motivations in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Its shell exterior also resembles a broken heart, adding to the overall theming.
According to notes from the artist, the catalyst through which Despair Form Pecharunt came to be is the sixth generation Pokemon Hoopa Unbound. In its default form, Hoopa Confined, the Pokemon appears to be fairly small, and could be considered rather «cute» in design. Its alternate form, Hoopa Unbound, is far more fearsome of a foe. It goes from having two arms with mitten-like hands into five sharp-clawed arms, as well as becoming far larger and more draconic in appearance. Hoopa Unbound also boasts a dramatically longer ponytail, a design cue the alternate Pecharunt form above
