Rumor: PS5 Pro Is In Active Development
According to sources, not only has Sony already been working on the PlayStation 5 Pro for some time, but the upgraded PS5 console may well end up coming out in relatively short order, all things considered. While the notion of upgraded «Pro» consoles has been widely contested due to the unique circumstances of the current generation of gaming hardware (i.e. the silicon shortage pushing back the industry's transition from PS4 to PS5), the whole thing is still up in the air.
It's curious to note that Sony mentioned PlayStation 6 in a recent argument against Microsoft's attempt to acquire Activision Blizzard, though there haven't been any official mentions of anything resembling a proper PS5 Pro device. In fact, some may feel that there's no need for one such upgrade, as most games are still coming out on last-gen consoles, too.

According to Insider Gaming, however, a full-fledged Pro-tier upgrade to the current PlayStation should be coming sometime late in 2024. The website in question seems to be fairly certain about the veracity of this particular leak, going so far as to suggest that it's got more details about the purported console, though "[they will] have to wait until a later date to release those." A different source told Insider Gaming that Sony has got plenty more in store for PS users this generation, which may end up having something to do with the company's InZone line of gaming hardware, too.
