Ubisoft are holding a Far Cry 5 anniversary celebration, basically a way to remind you about a year old game, and as part of that they have announced a free 60fps patch for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players. Xbox owners will also get a resolution upgrade, 1920X1080 resolution on Xbox Series S and in 3840X2160/4K resolution on Xbox Series X. PS5 players remain the same with a dynamic resolution at around 2880X1620.
You should be able to get hold of it right now.
Ubisoft also announced a free weekend for Far Cry 5 from 23rd to 27th March on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC through the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games Store. You will have access to the full main game and if you want to buy the game then it is discounted at up to 85% off depending on your platform. Any progression made during the free weekend will carry over if you upgrade to the full game on the same platform.
We gave the game a delightful 9/10 when we reviewed it back in March 2018.
“Far Cry 5 is another improvement to a series that hit its stride quite a long time ago,” said Gareth. “It gets a recommendation not because of any of its individual features, but because they all combine together into a game that becomes paradoxically funny and horrifying, occasionally at the same time. It depicts a part of America lovingly with its tongue very firmly glued to its cheek, but when I close my eyes, I still see Joseph Seed staring back at me.”
Since then we’ve had Far Cry 6 which was a step down from the delights of Far Cry 5, but Ubisoft have yet to announce the next game in the series, presumably Far Cry 7.
