Resident Evil 4 was originally released on January 11, 2005, as a Nintendo GameCube timed exclusive before eventually getting ported to the PlayStation 2 in October 2005. Several ports followed, including a well-received VR port. Resident Evil 4 was an immediate hit upon its original release. Critics and fans alike praised the game's emphasis on tense action, shying away from the series’ survival horror roots while still offering players a challenging experience.

The Resident Evil 4 remake's official release date is March 24, 2023, but some fans out there are already sharing pictures of themselves with their physical copies in hand. These aren’t folks with special access, just people who go lucky that retailers like Wal-Mart and Amazon seemed to misjudge how long it’d take to ship the physical copies. Reddit user Haseeb0945 got his PS5 copy delivered by Amazon several hours before the game was slated for release.
