Leaker Has Bad News for Far Cry Fans

ScriptLeaksR6 has become known for having leaked information about many Ubisoft titles likeRainbow Six Siege and, more recently, Assassin's Creed Mirage and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. While Siege is their bread and butter, mainly leaking new maps and cosmetics, the Far Cry franchise has recently made its way onto their Twitter feed.
Over the past decade Ubisoft has been pumping out Far Cry games pretty much every other year. Far Cry 6 was the latest in a long line of Far Cry titles that have contributed to what many gamers express as "Ubisoft open world fatigue.«It seems like Ubisoft may be taking its time with the next major Far Cry entry to potentially try to address these issues.
Far Cry 5 Next-Gen Update is Looking Like a Good Reason to Return to the Game
On Twitter, ScriptLeaksR6 has stated that what's expected to be the next big title in the series, Far Cry 7, has yet to begin development. It's unknown whether Ubisoft has plans to move forward with the title down the road, but as of right now it's looking like it might be taking a break from the series.
While Far Cry 7 would likely be the next major game in the franchise, it's important to remember the release pattern the series has stuck to for the past decade. The large numbered entries have always been followed up by smaller standalone spinoffs or continuations. Far Cry 3 was followed up by Blood Dragon, Far Cry 4 was followed by Primal in 2016 which built off the same map, and Far Cry 5 was followed by New Dawn which continued the story not even a full year later.
