While Niantic has missed the mark on numerous occasions when it comes to making sure Pokemon Go remains popular, its gradual rollout of Pokemon and features has remained impressive. It's why, almost seven years after launch, it's still so popular. An example of that restraint manifested again today as Niantic confirmed Master Balls are finally coming to the game.
That's right, an item that has existed in the Pokemon universe since its inception is finally coming to Pokemon Go. Detailed in a new blog on the official website, Niantic has confirmed trainers will soon be able to get their hands on their very first Master Ball. A Pokeball with a 100 percent catch rate for whatever 'mons you lob it at.

The Master Ball will be attainable by completing season ten's Rising Heroes special research. Rising Heroes' final story will begin on May 22, 2023, at which point Professor Willow will present you with a gift.
The blog implies that gift will be the Master Ball. However, it later clarifies the item will only be bestowed on trainers who complete the new research. Either way, the best news of all is that the research is free, meaning the opportunity to claim a Master Ball will be open to all.
Unlike Master Balls in the original and subsequent games, Niantic confirms the one you get for completing the research will not be the last you see of the item in Pokemon Go. Although there will be just one per trainer available at first, Niantic signs off by telling trainers to be on the lookout for ways to get more Master Balls in the future.
