Developer Insomniac Games has revealed its upcoming title Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will not feature co-op, and will instead be focused entirely on being an “epic single-player adventure”. As caught by Eurogamer, the studio revealed this through a tweet in response to a fan asking whether the game will feature co-op.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was originally announced back in September 2021. Since then, however, the game hasn’t seen any trailers or gameplay footage revealed for it. With Sony hosting its next PlayStation Showcase tomorrow, it is likely we’ll see Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 make an appearance during the event.
Despite the lack of concrete details on the game, however, the developer’s Twitch stream from earlier this month had narrative director Jon Paquette talking about his excitement for the upcoming sequel. While Paquette didn’t reveal any details about the game, he did state that the team is working to make sure that “this is the best game we’ve ever made“.
Sony Interactive Entertainment president Jim Ryan also recently spoke in an interview with Famitsu, stating that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will have no compromises, since the game is being developed exclusively for the PS5, and will not have a PS4 release.
While Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 doesn’t have a release date yet, actor Tony Todd, who will play Venom in the game, has stated that it is targetting a September release.
Nope! It is an epic single-player adventure!
