With the recent changes, which have seen enemy spawn rates and weapon types changed to improve balancing, it would appear that developer Arrowhead has also sneakily added a new enemy type. This new Terminid has been spotted by players in recent missions but is nowhere to be found in any of the game's official patch notes.
One player, Litnos, took to Reddit to share a screenshot of some Terminids using bat-type wings to fly overhead in the game, simply captioning it "" This seems to be increasing the difficulty of the game in a different way, ensuring players don't just focus on the enemies on the ground, but also keep an eye out for attacks from above.
These new flying Terminids are called Shriekers.
Many of the comments on Litnos' post suggested that these flying Terminids were some of the smaller creatures that Arrowhead said would spawn more frequently when it reduced the number of the game's more aggressive enemy types, the Bile Titan and Chargers. Many assumed that this would simply be more of the same enemies they'd fought in the past, but considering Arrowhead's tendency to keep the Galactic War fresh and exciting by changing elements on the fly, it wouldn't be surprising if a completely new enemy was added to compensate for this.

According to Temperance10, these new flying enemies seem to function much like Stalkers, where players must destroy their nest to stop them from spawning. Others have praised this mini-gameplay loop of tracking a special monster type to their lair — resembling the finale of the 1997 movie in which the troopers capture one of the telepathic Brain Bugs from its lair — and hoping Arrowhead uses this as a way to introduce other new Terminids in the future.
