Following the release of Update 1.6, fans have once again offered up even more modding options, with one player in particular focusing on a mod for new dialogue.
A mod published on NexusMods has added over 116 new lines of dialogue to gift giving scenes in Stardew Valley. The mod focuses specifically on NPC reactions to gifts given by the player, with the aim of adding depth to the characters with «canon-friendly» responses. Giving gifts in Stardew Valley is essential to building friendships with the citizens of Pelican Town, which in turn can provide new recipes, helpful items, and memorable interactions. In the base game, characters have fixed dialogue responses to items that they love, like, dislike, and hate. Update 1.6 added unique NPC reactions to certain gifts, but most of these new responses are limited to rare items given to romanceable characters. To further expand on the new dialogue, this mod adds more NPC interactions for all characters with individual responses to a variety of items.
