Ubisoft has revealed the Star Wars Outlaws release date, with the game set to launch across PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on 30th August 2024 with pre-orders now live. See the new Star Wars Outlaws story trailer here:
Set between the events of Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, you’ll play as outlaw Kay Vess who’s trying to pull off one of the biggest heists ever in the Outer Rim. That journey will take you across several planets that obviously includes Tatooine, but also has less familiar settings and brand new ones, like the moon of Toshara.
This latest trailer dives a little bit deeper into the overarching story of the game, but there will be plenty of opportunities to diverge from the beaten path. From last year’s gameplay reveal, we already got to see a heady blend of gameplay ideas that range from punchy The Division-style cover shooting, to exploring and racing through the open world on speeders, dogfighting in space, dialogue options, and more.
The game does look pretty sublime, and while the PS5 and Xbox Series X are pretty capable machines, you’ll really want a high-end PC to get the best visuals, with moderns GPUs able to be far, far more powerful than consoles. As revealed back at GDC, Nvidia has partnered with Massive Entertainment to ensure that the game has got full support for Nvidia DLSS 3 for upscaling and frame generation, as well as ray tracing and Reflex. The game will also be available to play via GeForce Now.
There’s a good few months still to go before Star Wars Outlaws is released, so this definitely won’t be the last that we see of the game before August. Expect Star Wars Outlaws to have another big presence during the Ubisoft Forward stream during Summer Game Fest 2024 in June, though I’m sure there’s a lot of eager Star Wars beavers who now won’t want to see any more trailers to try and keep things fresh.
