Helldivers 2 is getting a new Warbond next week, as the Polar Patriots Warbond looks set to add some juicy weapons, as well as some stylish capes, armor, and emotes to flaunt on the battlefield. The announcement of a new Warbond is usually cause for celebration among the Helldivers 2 community, but this one is being treated with suspicion, as some believe it's teasing the introduction of one of the first game's most terrifying bugs.
Just like with every other Warbond that gets announced, a description of each addition included in the set was posted to the PlayStation Blog shortly after the reveal. We get some more info on armor perks and weapon abilities, but a couple of strange references to "tentacles" have many players on edge, as there are currently no Terminids with tentacles currently in the game.
You can find these references in the descriptions of the new AR-61 Tenderizer, which is described as a "real tentacle-tearer", as well as in the description for the CW-4 Arctic Ranger armor set, which PlayStation describes as having pockets to put "Terminid tentacles" inside.
It's possible that the writer of this blog post may have been taking some creative liberties with the descriptions, but that's not usually how these blog posts go, and fans have pointed out that there is one infamous Terminid currently not in Helldivers 2 that likes to terrorize players with tentacles.
Veterans from the original Helldivers will be well aware of the Impaler, a horrible little beastie that doesn't run up and attacks players like other Terminids, but instead stays a short distance away and has its tentacles burrow underground and surface around a player. With the Terminids on the march at the moment, and distressing signs that something big is on the way, it's very possible game master Joel could be planning to give the Terminids some terrifying reinforcements in the near future.
