Fans are excited to jump into this next major video game release for the Star Wars franchise. We know Star Wars Outlaws is coming this summer, and if you’re contemplating whether you should pick up a preorder, there might be one mission to convince you. That’s to at least convince you to spend more money and acquire one of the higher-tier editions of the game before its release. Unfortunately, there is already one mission locked behind a season pass, and it’s set to debut at launch.
The idea of season passes is nothing new. We’ve seen them come across various games over the years. Ideally, these seasonal passes are a way to acquire upcoming content, usually at a discount rather than being purchased outright with each DLC launch. However, the key focus for some here is that this is investing for future content launching to the game. It never sits well with me, and I’m sure there are quite a few others when a season pass comes with content already made to be experienced at launch.
That’s what is happening right now with Star Wars Outlaws. Last week, we saw the release date for the game, which is August 30, 2024, thanks to a story trailer. Like other major anticipated titles, there are a couple of editions available. You have everything from a standard edition to a more collectible one that packs various extra goodies.
For Star Wars Outlaws, the gold and ultimate editions cost $109.99 and $129.99, respectively. Those editions include some extra content like cosmetics, including a season pass. Today, thanks to a report from Insider Gaming, we’re finding out that a mission will be available from this season pass at launch.
This mission will be based around Jabba the Hutt, where our protagonist, Kay, is offered a job to collect a debt. It’s unfortunate that this mission is locked away in a season pass, especially since the content will be ready to play at launch. We also don’t know if this mission will be made available to everyone at a later date.
