A creative Destiny 2 player has expressed their appreciation for the latest Dune film with a set of custom armor inspired by House Harkonnen soldiers seen in one of the film's most iconic scenes. Theirs is part of a new wave of custom Destiny 2 costumes replicating the looks of Harkonnen soldiers and characters like the Baron, Rabban, and Feyd-Rautha.
A classic sci-fi story that's seen multiple screen and game adaptations, Dune is seeing a renewed surge of popularity thanks to the blockbuster films by Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve. The second part of the series, Dune: Part 2, arrived in theaters in March 2024 and saw its protagonist Paul Atreides rise to power over the universe by harnessing the culture and beliefs of the Fremen, the hardy natives of Dune who viewed Paul as the savior of prophecy. By the end of the film, Paul toppled the oppressive rule of his mortal enemies in House Harkonnen, who were backed by no less than the Emperor of the known universe.
Though they had comparatively little screen time in the 2020 Dune film, the Harkonnens prominently feature in some of Dune 2's most striking scenes and visuals. Harkonnen costumes, architecture, and even the skin tones of the most important Harkonnen characters are filmed in high-contrast monochrome, with deep blacks and colorless whites contrasting heavily throughout the movie. One fan, Reddit user Spider-K1n, seized on an unnamed Harkonnen character from the arena sequence on Giedi Prime, assembling a highly evocative customized Destiny 2 Titan gear set for fellow players to enjoy.
