When it comes to , the game's pets are an almost essential addition to the experience and even though the 1.6 Update managed to make them more appealing, one fan took the system even further. The most recent major content patch included a wealth of customization options for player' pets but when it comes to interactivity, they still sometimes feel like robots just aimless wandering around the farm. Half the fun of owning a pet is teaching them tricks and taking them on small adventures which is now entirely possible in Pelican Town.
Posted to Nexus Mods by creator SunkenLace, the «Pets Enhanced» mod looks to expand upon the vanilla system by adding in a plethora of new interactive features. Once installed, the add-on allows Farmers to easily equip hats to their critters, feed them treats, and even teach them some handy tricks with a manual that can be purchased from Marnie. These tricks aren't just for show either, as pets can now be brought along for one's daily adventures, including a trip down into the dangerous depths of the mines.
There's an easy feature for farm animal players they may have been overlooking for years in Stardew Valley, and it's not even part of the 1.6 update.
The tricks pets can be taught in include the usual «Follow» and «Wait,» which are no doubt fun for Farmers who want some company as they move around Pelican Town but the most fun is undoubtedly «Hunt.» When a pet is taught this skill, they will autonomously attack enemies, dealing a small amount of damage but still serving as a decent distraction to draw some attention away from players. Cats and dogs even have different stats: The former has a significantly higher chance to dish out a critical hit but the latter deals more consistent normal damage.
