The latest Helldivers 2 update brings additional fixes and server optimizations to prevent game crashing while also making quality of life improvements to other sides of the game. New patches continue to arrive at a quick pace as Helldivers 2 has seen player numbers and success that Arrowhead likely wasn't expecting at launch.
While Helldivers 2 has seen strong word of mouth from both fans and critics alike, Arrowhead's servers were not prepared for the crush of new players at launch. The huge wave of players brought the servers to their knees, putting Arrowhead developers into crisis mode to restore Helldivers 2. Since launch, the game has largely been put in a much better spot thanks in large part to the background fixes and various updates that Arrowhead has continued to release. As the game continues to see surges of new players, the studio continues to tweak the experience behind the scenes to ensure that the experience remains steady.
The latest update from Arrowhead continues the trend of providing fixes for Helldivers 2 connection and server related issues. As expected, the major focus of this latest update is the continued improvement to the servers through fixing crashes and server optimizations. Arrowhead also made additional improvements to matchmaking, with optimizations made to the filter system when searching for Helldivers 2 lobbies, removing full ones from the list. Visual progression indicators were also added to Major Order Defend Events, allowing players to see how close or far they are from completing it.
This latest update follows on the heels of another recent Helldivers 2 update just a few days ago including a fix that addressed server capacity log-in issues, progression related problems, and authentication error requests. The update went along way to quelling the player unrest, as Helldivers 2 quickly became one of Steam's top selling games and it's user rating moving up from Mixed to Mostly Positive thanks to the server improvements..
