Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's director, Naoki Hamaguchi, has confirmed that the team is currently considering "further expansions" for the in-universe card game, Queen's Blood.
Ever since it was first confirmed to be releasing this year, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has undoubtedly been one of the biggest games of 2024 and undoubtedly one of the most talked about games of the year. We all expected that thanks to the new playable characters and the extreme anxiety about what Square Enix was going to do about that scene, but there's one part of the game that has surprisingly stood out the most.
I am, of course, talking about everyone's favourite in-universe card game - Queen's Blood. Rebirth is absolutely stuffed with minigames and side experiences for players to enjoy and, while some argue there's a bit too much fluff, it seems that everyone can't get enough of Queen's Blood.
In fact, despite being part of a lengthy side mission that can basically be played everywhere across Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, it seems that a lot of players actually want more Queen's Blood and haven't been put off by how brutal Chapter 5 is. It seems that Square Enix is aware of this demand too, as Rebirth's director has seemingly confirmed the team is considering what to do with Queen's Blood next.
During an interview with Red Bull, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's director, Naoki Hamaguchi, was asked what side content he is most excited for players to try, which causes him to bring up Queen's Blood, noting that he "definitely" wants everyone to give it a go. Red Bull then asks Hamaguchi how many cards there currently are and if there are plans for more to be added in the future.
In response, Hamaguhi says that, although there are already 145 Queen's Blood cards in the game, the team wants to "consider further expansions as a possibility" thanks to the overwhelmingly positive response to the mode from media and fans.
